Specific

A general goal would be, “ Get in shape”. But a specific goal would be, “ Join a health club and work out 3 days a week for the next 52 weeks”. A specific goal is more likely to be accomplished, because it has concrete parameters and constraints.
Measurable

There must be a logical system for measuring the progress of a goal. How can you determine if your goal is measurable? Ask yourself questions like: How much time will it take? How many goals do I want to achieve? How can I know whether the goal is accomplished? etc. When you measure your progress, you can control the performance of your goal, so that you can experience the exhilaration of achievement that spurs you to reach your goal with continued efforts.
Attainable

To be attainable, a goal must represent an objective purpose for which you are both willing and able to work. In other words, the goal must be realistic. The big question is here: How can you accomplish the goal?
Result-based

Result-based means to focus more on consequences, not just the procedures. For example, set up a goal that lose 1 kg within a month instead of just having an empty stomach in every morning; or get a raise of 50 points in TOFEL test, but not memorizing lists of words everyday.
Time-bound

A goal must be achieved within a time range, giving the goal a certain deadline. Deadline helps you focus your efforts on the accomplishment of the goal. This part of the S.M.A.R.T. goal criteria is intended to prevent goals from being overtaken by daily routines.
When you identify S.M.A.R.T. goals that are truly important to you, you will be motivated to find ways to achieve your goals. Goals that once seemed too far away and out of reach, will eventually move closer and become attainable, not because your goals shrink day by day, but because you know how to achieve those goals.
一旦你意识到了S.M.A.R.T.

WORK SMART
WORK SMART是在WORK HARD基础上的一种升华,比WORK HARD对于职场人的要求更高。
